Kick Off To The New Year

A Successful Start to 2019 Thanks to You

We kicked off the new year with a Sustainable You Fundraiser. After a very generous donation of a venue, a catered 3-course vegan meal and event services from Dr. Laurie Marbas, LWH rounded up some excellent speakers and silent auction items to complete the evening. Further, So Delicious kindly donated and served several flavors of their non-dairy (n)ice creams for all of our guests.

With over 100 attendees and a low-waste production, LWH and the invited guest speakers educated the audience on "planet-based" nutrition, animal conservation, and the horrors of plastics on our planet.

Our Presenters

Living With Harmony's newest member, Mariam Crow, gave a few words on why she moved across the country to join our mission. Co-Founder John Pierre (top left) gave a detailed presentation on who LWH is, what we have accomplished, and where we plan to go from here.

Other speakers that made the evening a success was a magical emcee Erica Sodos, incredible live DJ John Wirt, a cooking demo by JL Fields (bottom right), a talk by elephant conservationist Kristal Parks (top right), lectures by plant-based physicians Dr. Laurie Marbas and Dr. Chris Miller, a presentation by ultramarathoner Scott Jurek, a mother-daughter duo by JoAnn and Sarina Farb, and a life-transformation talk by Anthony Masiello (bottom left).
Jason Cohen also previewed the trailer for his upcoming film, "Big Change, the Film" at our event.

Our Centerpieces

LWH was particularly proud of their in-house created centerpieces which were mason jars filled with sand, sea green-tinted water, and some of the very common pieces of plastic trash present in our everyday lives (e.g. disposable razors, plastic straws, dental floss, and more). The top of each mason jar contained the phrase, "When you throw something away, where is away?"
The event allowed the perfect presentation of LWH coined phrase "planet-based living," which includes considering the planet and its creatures in all choices that you make; such as not using single-use items that harm sea life and not purchasing goods that contain palm oil due to the resulting deforestation of the rainforest and death to orangutans and other animals that depend on the rainforest for survival.
A huge, heartfelt "thank you" to all who attended!
Because of you, we made incredible new friends and a great boost of momentum to make 2019 our year!

And Now For Some Bonus News...

Mariam Crow on the "This is Plant Based" Podcast

In case you missed it, on January 14th our very own Mariam talked about "living a life of meaning" with Jonathan Marbas of the "This is Plant Based" podcast. You don't want to miss this!  Listen here.

AWARENESS TIP

Yes, it's about plastic!

Be on the lookout for rings on bottles and packaged items that can harm wildlife when they end up in nature and in the oceans.  Always cut plastic rings - hair ties, rubber bands, etc.  Now that we are more aware, we are finding rings everywhere.

A lovely Colorado winter day provides the perfect time to share some photos from the outside of our venue in beautiful Larkspur, CO.

Thanks for reading! Until next time...
