Day 2 Update – 5 Half Marathons – 5 States – 5 Days – 4 Living With Harmony!
Day 2 – Fueling our Minds and Bodies!
Hello All!
The Mainly Marathons – Independence Series Half Marathon for day 2 is in the books with a time of 3:33:33.
Today’s course was at Fair Hill National Recreation Area in Elkton, MD and consisted of 9 out and back loops with 8 rubber bands.
Familiar Friendly Faces
Today was full of encouragement, familiar friendly faces, plus a few new ones.
I walked several miles with Stephanie. This is her first Mainly Marathon series and like me wants to complete half marathons in all 50 states. We share many things in common with our activity and are both working to improve our diets to fuel our minds and bodies.
No Solo Efforts Here
As you can tell from the pictures there are no solo efforts here. We all support and feed off of each other. There are all shapes and sizes at these races conquering distances from 5K to 50K. Almost every pace is represented as well. At this series the last place finishers at each distance are honored with a caboose.
There are no awards for first place and speed is not your friend when stringing this many races together.
Working on John Pierre’s Pillars of Health
I am working on growing the other three pillars of nutrition, motion and compassion while on this trip.
The pillar of compassion can easily be practiced while driving by letting someone merge.
I’m listening to podcasts to learn new skills and enjoying the sights, smells and sounds of nature when I’m walking alone.
There are group dinners which is another friendship building time. I was pleasantly surprised to see three other people at a table of eight choose vegetarian options last night. The conversations were great and the stories inspiring.
